I think I must be doing something right...

I've always believe in the "three rule" ever since I discovered it. The "three rule" is that what you do returns threefold to you. So if you do something bad, you'll have threefold bad luck or something thereof. If you do something good, you get something good in return. The good part though only works if you do good things because its the right thing to do--not if you're expecting something good. Do something good for the sake of doing good.

And it does feel good, doing good.

Anyway, I posted my holiday wish list to a LiveJournal community, but expected nothing. But I do finally have a job so I picked up some addresses for some people who wanted a Christmas card. I had extra tea I wasn't drinking in my house so I posted a list of what I had and sent those out, including an unexpected surprise of cookies. I bought a notebook and pencils for a person who needed some. I wrote some drabbles for a few who asked, finally wrote a story for someone that I'd been promising to deliver for a few months. For my local friends, I baked some baked goods from scratch and put those in a cake saver pan turned upside down. I finally got my best friend her birthday present, but also got her Christmas present and gave her some baked goods, too.

And...I've somehow gotten a lot in return. In the year I was unemployed, I've only gotten late notices for my student loan and credit cards and threats of lawyer action. So mail time for me wasn't exciting. Until this month when I started getting Christmas cards which has completely made my month.

I started a new job in mid-November. I won a contest here on dA.

Two people told me they bought me socks which was yes on my list. And another person sent me some socks and underwear both unexpectedly.

Another friend got me X-Men Origins for my birthday (late, but she knew what I wanted!).

One friend gave me a certificate to a chiropracter so I can find out if it's years yet for me to worry about seeing one or if it's past time.

An internet friend gifted me with a coupon so I can get half off paid year's time on Livejournal.

And when I dropped off a basket of baked goods to my old science teacher, I found out that I had made her mum's holiday because the mom loved my baked goods. And my teacher got me some hand lotion from my favorite specialty soap company.

Oh and my fuck-buddy/boyfriend (kind of)...I finally got things worked out with him.

...I'm in awe. Complete awe.

This coming Yule...I need to put forth the effort the rite and blessing. It wouldn't feel right to let it slide by.

And yay now I can offer the wine for it.

Blessed be all.

Guess which fic!

Since everyone is so busy . . . now's the perfect time to create my "guess which fic I wrote" post. :P I think they are SOOOOOOO obvious I might as well have signed my name. *shakes head*

I have written fics for [info]snarry_holidays, [info]daily_deviant's Kinky Kristmas, and [info]mini_fest over on LJ. I am not going to say whether any/all have posted or not.

Reply to this screened post with your guesses which fics were mine and if you are correct I will write a drabble from the pairing/prompt of your choice.

...I hate being manic-depressive.

It sucks.

On the plus side I woke up and had coupon for a year's paid LJ time.

And my whatever-fuck-buddy-boyfriend agreed to take me up to my favorite adult store (it's actually not sleazy and looks classy--it's the bestest store ever!). Course he asked me if I needed anything specific and I do so I told him...and he hasn't replied. So either I've confused him, shocked him, or he's jerking off without me. Or he just doesn't have anything to say. I had to ask him because I have no one else I could ask--of the three people: my mum? ...no. She can't handle the idea of me being on birth control never mind me having sex. A friend I met through someone else and who got me involved in the theatre? She's a mum figure with me and it would be awkward just bringing up the subject. My best friend (other than my sister)? No. She's too innocent.

I didn't want to ask because the last time we tried to get up to Manchester, we got lost and it was my fault but I swore I knew my way there and we ended up more lost and that was the embarrassment of my adult life. But he's fine with it.

I just hope I don't blush too much.

Did I mention how sucky manic-depression is? Cuz it is. I'm in the low right now but closer to "go the fuck away I hate almost all of you don't talk to me unless you want to fight a dragon like battle and yes i know i'm laying down on my bed before bed but its a good bloody idea and yes i know i've got the bedsheets over my head who the fuck cares?" with a bit of "where's my fuck buddy? i need to be used".

being crazy ladies and gentlemen is not fun. unless you're so medicated you don't even know your own name any more because when you're that medicated you don't even know you're crazy and it doesn't bother you nor are you bothered by the fact that the medication makes things that much worse.

am i even crazy? i do not even know.

either way i'm not so crazy that i can't use it as an excuse to not work for the next couple of days even though i won't be performing up to standards.

i'm off to hide under the bed clothes and...something. wallow i think. in what i don't know but i think wallowing is what i shall be doing.

I love my local co-op. I'd gone there because not only did I need to pick up a few things, but they had Llewellyn's witches date book. They also had the farmer's almanac so I was going to compare. I also need a little bottle or container or something so I could keep some baking soda in my room for my face instead of having to get some from downstairs each time.

I ended up getting Llewellyn's book because they didn't have the almanac and I wanted to support the co-op not my workplace (who does have the almanac). Then as I wandered about (because it'd been too long since I wandered the co-op) I ended up picking up a new water bottle. It was on sale and is a nice dark shiny purple color and is stainless steal. It has two caps and was only $12. Happiness!

But then as I left, I looked at the table they have that has petition stuff, local news, etc. They had this free book from Aubrey Organics--a dictionary of natural ingredients and which synthetic chemicals were the worst.

I &heart my local co-op.

They also had the month's newsletter out and apparently they now have a forum on their site that allows exchange of ideas to help boost the local town and farmers and the co-op itself. I'm going on later so I can help. I've found out that many people believe the co-op is wicked expensive (freakin' Whole Foods is more expensive!), that the membership is toward $100 (it's only $20 for a year!) and that it's only for people who receiving food stamps. I have no idea what we can do to change that, but it needs to be changed. At least by word of mouth as I've done my new co-workers xD

I also shipped out boxes of tea for some people and I was so happy that it came to only $20 for five boxes and one envelope of stationary stuff.

I finally got to read my comic books. ...I forgot how amazing those are.

My local Walgreens was full of win for me...I got a Conair hair dryer, waffle maker, and a cheese/food gift thingie for $30. I got the cheese/food thingie because it comes with a neat wooden cutting board and a super mini "meat" cleaver that came with it's own cover. I gave the food stuff to my mum since she eats that icky stuff...I just wanted the board and knife.

I ate a healthy meal today for the first time in a bit...well, I have had hummus and cheese sandwiches...but today was chockful of goodness for me. I got some refried beans (of course on second thought maybe they're not that healthy...but they've got the protein I need) and then I put on some chopped tomatoes and shredded cheese and sour cream. It was all the stuff I needed and was also what I'd been craving (my mum made tacos the other day and I've been craving them).

And lastly...my hair is purple. I've been wanting to dye it again and my work place for sure doesn't have a problem with my hair being purple. I asked and finally got a definite answer. Yay! So now my hair is purple. I know it doesn't bode well for any future interviews I may get (except for the co-op once I bother them enough ;p ), but...MY HAIR IS PURPLE AND IS CORPORATE APPROVED. I win.

Now for the griping which you can ignore if you want to...

Snowflake Fic #4: Snarry for sra_danvers!

Okay, I know I must have lost my mind. Because if I'm reading the time stamps on my last 3 posts, I've written four fics in 24 hours. !?!?!?! I've been feeling sick today and therefore unmotivated to do "real work" but... four fics??? Four pairings?? I thought I was going to write a few drabbles today, but each fic has been longer than the previous! Yes, I am nuts. However, I'm also going to sleep now. Enjoy the insanity while it lasts! :-)

Snowflake Fic #4: Hind Sight
For [info]sra_danvers
Snape/Harry, NC-17
Word Count: 1938
Summary: A few years after the war, Snape is living on a remote mountainside alone when he gets a very unexpected visitor: Harry Potter.

I wasn't supposed to survive. I know this. I was supposed to sacrifice myself just like the boy was. Meanwhile we would be saving the lives and souls of the likes of the Malfoys. Why did it never occur to me that Dumbledore's plan ensured the life of the purebloods and the expense of all the half-bloods? I count myself surprised now that Hagrid survived as well, though perhaps his survival had less to do with Dumbledore's plans and more to do with his own resourcefulness, much like mine.

It took Potter a few years to find me. Read more... )

Snowflake Fic #3: Harry/Draco for winnett!

OMG, this started out as a drabble and ended up a full-blown fic! I'm sure I won't be able to do that for all of these, but this plot bunny just ran away with me! Enjoy it, [info]winnett!

Snowflake Fic #3: True or False Question
For [info]winnett
Harry/Draco, NC-17
Word Count: 1800
Summary: Has Draco finally invented the potion that Harry Potter hoped that he would when he set him up in a secret, underground lab?

Draco charmed the door open with his wand in hand. No such thing as too careful, even though he knew it was Potter at the door. Potter himself set him up in this secret lab; no one else knew of its existence.

Potter, too, had his wand in hand, and his hair was even wilder than usual. His eyes, too. Draco frowned. "What's wrong?"

"Who said anything's wrong?" Potter shoved his wand into the Ministry-approved sleeve holster. "I came because I got your owl."

Draco slipped his own wand into his sleeve with a bit more grace, wondering--hoping--that perhaps it could be the proximity to Draco himself that had Potter so flustered. Read more... )

Snowflake Ficlet #2: Ogata/Touya for painless_j!

Snowflake Ficlet #2
For [info]painless_j!
Ogata/Touya, NC-17

Touya has this idea that sex is one of these things that will eventually happen without any effort on his part. He is too busy to think about the process, much less the goal, between his match schedule, tutoring, interviews, and so on. His parents are off in their own little world these days, traveling, living in China for months at a time; he knows at the very least he is years away from arranged marriage or any obligation like that.

He has idle moments from time to time when he wonders how different life will be once he's done it. Everyone says it will be--everyone being manga and movies he also has no time for but he can't help but absorb the cultural messages in them. He has no reason to doubt this. He simply cannot imagine what it will be like, either the sex or life afterward. Mostly he does not try, but there are those moments when he looks at his peers and wonders who is, who isn't, who has, who hasn't.

Shindou hasn't although Touya has heard his one attempt was a complete disaster with the girl next door. Shindou refuses to talk about it beyond blurting it out one day as an excuse for his poor play in a match; Touya had refused to speak to him for a week after that. Touya doesn't tolerate excuses.

Since he can't imagine what it will be like or how it will happen, when it does happen, Touya is completely caught by surprise. Read more... )

Snape/Draco ficlet for sabathea

Sooooo... I promised myself after I finished writing the first draft of the novel I owe to my publisher, that I'd write some fanfic. The "flurry" of v-gifts I got over on Livejournal has inspired me to write some for the folks who gave me snowflake cookies and such!

This one started out as a drabble and ended up an actual ficlet/scene! Happy hols, [info]sabethea! (Um, and no, I'm not totally sure why I chose this pairing for you, but I hope you like it!)

12th Dec, 2009

[info]alafaye

this is the first time in some days I've had the time to do a full update and the time too to look at deviations and fully read journals.

i've been practically non stop since last saturday.

so, to recap real quick:

5th work then a dinner at the theatre
6th work
7th shop to pick up a blue shirt for work, that god awful dentist appointment
8th work
9th baking, work, pick up flour
10th baking for about nine hours plus another filling done at the dentist
11th baking, helping decorate cookies, finding a winter coat
12th (today) work

On top of which I find out that I'm allergic to the Bert's Bees lip balm so my lips are sore and itchy and swollen. Oh, and my blood sugar has been all over the place because I've had almost no time to eat properly and sleep, too. And for most of this week I've had my menses.

And oh yeah I have to work tomorrow. And lastly because I'm worn down my body is on the loosing side of coming down with a cold.

And the comic books I got last week? I haven't had the chance to look at them :cry:

Just shoot me now...please?

~~~
*deep breath*
On the plus side...
I got some pet therapy in--my sister lent me her cat. xD I miss having a cat in the house.
I found two winter coats at Salvation Army for $50. One is a pea coat and keeps me super warm. I wore it this morning when it was 14F (but felt like 6) and I didn't feel the cold other than on my face which wasn't covered. Happiness! The other coat I got is wool, about thigh length and has a plaid pattern, in dark colors.
I also got at Salvation Army the plates I'd been looking at earlier in the week when I picked up the tea cups. Luckily, they still had them so I picked them up. They're cream colored with a blue rose pattern. I also found a ceramic condiment dual thing with two spoons that have wooden handles and a butterfly/flower pattern. I figure that I can put sugar in one cup, jam in the other and it'll be something unique for a tea party. Also, I only need a cute serving platter and I'll have enough for a two person tea party...now, I just need some one to have a tea party with...
I only have one more appointment to go with my fillings. The second appointment--never felt a thing. I did start getting a headache so that's something to know--that having my teeth worked on gives me a headache.
A friend stopped by today and gave me my belated bday pressie--X-Men origins! I'm watching it right now and I love Gambit!!
I had my first real shower in days. I have showered...it's just that today I got to spend all the time I wanted to in there and I washed my face with the baking soda/water combo and used some aloe vera gel. I love using those because my face breaks out so much less and the aloe vera keeps my face from getting blotchy. And they also keep my face moist and smooth and honestly my face has never looked or felt better. I am clean and my face is amazing for the first time in a bit. Happiness!
All the Christmas baking is done. I have leftovers, but some will be going to our landlord (my mum's idea) and then the rest I get to enjoy. Which is good because I get to enjoy the fruit of my baking. That's happiness--especially since there were left over scones xD
My sister also helped me bake. There are days she's a major pain in the arse...but once in a great while, she comes through for me.
The kitchen is a mere few steps away from being in the near perfect condition I prefer it to be in. I also managed to get some left over sugar, flour, and baking chocolate. Yay! I don't have an empty pantry! But I do have left over whipping cream that needs to be used...I'm thinking maybe cinnamon biscuits? They were so good the last time I made them.
I had a coupon for Fashion Bug--$10 off a $25 purchase--which I thought, well I have to get underwear, minus well get a good deal. So I picked up some cute underwear that will be comfortable enough to wear all the time. And in addition to the coupon, the underwear were on sale. So I got 5 pairs of underwear for $15. Not bad if I do say so.
And my body is rebounding from the cold it was trying to fight. I'm thinking maybe now that I will be getting real food in me and that I'll be getting a full night's rest...my body will fight it off completely so I won't have a full blown cold!
How are all of you by the way? Tell me--I want to know!
Gift ficlet for me!
The always wonderful [info]sweetmelodykiss wrote me a ficlet after I encouraged her to continue a drabble she'd written yesterday.
So...let's see...
Got the next filling in...was so much better than the last time. For one, didn't even feel the needle go in. Yay! I'm asking for that dentist each time.
I have to go back in a couple of weeks to get the last of the fillings done so soon my teeth will look awesome again ^^
The holiday baking is almost done. Thanks be to my sister. I've been up since 9 this morning, baking. Didn't eat breakfast before putting in the first bit. She's done the glaze for the last batch for the lemon bread and is going to do the sugar cookies for me. Some of them any way. And some of the snowball cookies. Also, her friend--the one she's been staying with--came out and cut up some chocolate for me for the chocolate biscuits. Yay for baking getting done.
Tomorrow I do have to do more baking, but with a friend. And it won't be all day either. Woot!
And...my sister also fixed the wifi signal machine (the name escapes me at the moment...) so we have wifi at my house...I'm writing this up on my laptop as we speak. Oh, happy day!! We named the system wifi thingie...Torchwood xD
Which brings me to my other happiness--I can now watch episodes of Torchwood!!
Oh happy day. Very very happy day.
And the last bit...my sister loaned me her cat until tomorrow so even though this week has been minorly crappy, I has pet therapy xD
