I've always believe in the "three rule" ever since I discovered it. The "three rule" is that what you do returns threefold to you. So if you do something bad, you'll have threefold bad luck or something thereof. If you do something good, you get something good in return. The good part though only works if you do good things because its the right thing to do--not if you're expecting something good. Do something good for the sake of doing good.
And it does feel good, doing good.
Anyway, I posted my holiday wish list to a LiveJournal community, but expected nothing. But I do finally have a job so I picked up some addresses for some people who wanted a Christmas card. I had extra tea I wasn't drinking in my house so I posted a list of what I had and sent those out, including an unexpected surprise of cookies. I bought a notebook and pencils for a person who needed some. I wrote some drabbles for a few who asked, finally wrote a story for someone that I'd been promising to deliver for a few months. For my local friends, I baked some baked goods from scratch and put those in a cake saver pan turned upside down. I finally got my best friend her birthday present, but also got her Christmas present and gave her some baked goods, too.
And...I've somehow gotten a lot in return. In the year I was unemployed, I've only gotten late notices for my student loan and credit cards and threats of lawyer action. So mail time for me wasn't exciting. Until this month when I started getting Christmas cards which has completely made my month.
I started a new job in mid-November. I won a contest here on dA.
Two people told me they bought me socks which was yes on my list. And another person sent me some socks and underwear both unexpectedly.
Another friend got me X-Men Origins for my birthday (late, but she knew what I wanted!).
One friend gave me a certificate to a chiropracter so I can find out if it's years yet for me to worry about seeing one or if it's past time.
An internet friend gifted me with a coupon so I can get half off paid year's time on Livejournal.
And when I dropped off a basket of baked goods to my old science teacher, I found out that I had made her mum's holiday because the mom loved my baked goods. And my teacher got me some hand lotion from my favorite specialty soap company.
Oh and my fuck-buddy/boyfriend (kind of)...I finally got things worked out with him.
...I'm in awe. Complete awe.
This coming Yule...I need to put forth the effort the rite and blessing. It wouldn't feel right to let it slide by.
And yay now I can offer the wine for it.
Blessed be all.
